Prime Minister apparently did not understand that Canadians have respect and love their democracy. The Harper government dropped to the low of 31.5% according to the EKOS poll. Harper's populatity dropped from 40% despite of Canada's response to the Haiti earthquake relief.
Canadians took to the streets across Canada to protest his pororguing of Parliament. His explaniation of why he was shutting down Parliament was not acceptable to many Canadians.
The immediate response by Harper, his political spin team and the major medias underplayed the movement, including the opposition parties, who when they seen the actions, jumped on the bandwagon, attempting to take the lead.
HARPER' GOVERNMENT MOCKS CANADA FLAG DAY: On Canada's Flag Day Anniversary, 15 Feb. the Harper Government mock our cherished Flag Day celebrations by re-labeling a case of MOLSON CANADIAN and the bottles, sending them to CBC for FREE ADVERTISING to poke fun at the Liberals. The CBC program Power & Politics hosted by Evan Soloman presented the MOLSON CANADA case modified, along with the beer bottles along with T shirts, showing the Liberal leader with a beer bottle in his hand, held up, with the caption, HAPPY BEER LABEL DAY CANADA.
Joe Bonnevie, co-founder of the Central Party of Canada, inquired with MOLSON to see why they were supporting the HARPER CONSERVATIVES, along with PRODUCT PLACEMENT on the public owned CBC. He indicated his displeasure with MOLSON CANADIAN and the HARPER CONSERVATIVES making jokes regarding our Canadian Flag Day. Mr. Bonnevie was on Parliament Hill the day that the Canadian Flag was first hoisted in 1964. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces and is proud of the Canadian flag, and has crossed Canada in the past two years in support of the troops with the Canadian flag along with the support the troops flag.
Molson Canadian representives from Montreal confirmed with Mr. Bonnevie that the Conservatives in fact did sent CBC a 12 pack of Molson Canadian, with modified labels to poke jest at the Liberal Leader for a statement he had made several years ago, while he was in the United States.
The Molson Canadian representive stated to Mr. Bonnevie that the company does not endorse any political party. Mr. Bonnevie asked the representive what Molson Canadian was going to do about the mis-use of brand name, copy write, and mis-use of their corporate image, when it was used for dirty politics.
There are laws regarding the promotion of spirits in Canada, and perhaps CBC has broken Canadian laws by accommodating the Harper government with this joke on National Flag Day, perhaps to make news instead of reporting it.
There has been no response from CBC from e mail communications by Mr. Bonnevie. He feels that it will be put under the rug by CBC
Mr. Bonnevie stated to Molson that the Harper Government could have sent CBC a 24 pack instead of only a 12 Pack of Molson Canadian beer. Mr. Bonnevie was invited to visit the Molson brewery in Montreal when he crosses Canada next summer on his K2000 TROOP SUPPORT TOUR next summer.
